When we have a stuffy nose, dry mucous membranes and a sense of general discomfort, there is nothing better than a decongestant treatment that gives us immediate relief.
There are several methods to decongest the respiratory tract, from medicines to therapies that facilitate the expulsion of secretions. However, there are also some very effective natural treatments. Here are the best ones!
The best natural decongestants
Eucalyptus decongestant treatment
Use it to make fumigations for 10 minutes. You can also place eucalyptus leaves in the pillow, so that you can breathe in the aroma while you sleep.
Pine decongestant treatment
Pine needles and buds have antiseptic and balsamic properties.
Boil a handful of sprouts and pine needles in 5 liters of water for 5 minutes. Pour everything into a container and make fumigations for 10 minutes.
Decongestant treatment with barks and brandy
Get two pieces of bark from three different trees: oak, holm oak and pine. Put 5 liters of brandy with the barks to boil over low heat for 10 minutes.
Remove the pot from the heat and add a pinch of rosemary and another pinch of nettle. Let it rest and then drain.
Take two tablespoons with warm milk before bed and two tablespoons in the morning on an empty stomach.
Mint decongestant treatment
Antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, mint is wonderful for clearing respiratory congestion.
Pour a teaspoon of this plant’s leaves into a cup of boiling water and let it sit for a few minutes.
Drink 2-3 cups of this infusion every day or, if you prefer, pour three drops of it into each nasal cavity.
Lemon decongestant treatment
Warm lemon juice is great for calming the flu and sore throats.
You can gargle every two hours with lemon juice mixed with half a glass of hot water or drink a delicious hot lemonade.
