Not Deciding Is Worse Than Making A Mistake

If we don’t decide, there will be those who will do it for us and we will lose control of our own life. We must be the architects of our happiness.
Not deciding is worse than making a mistake

We spend time making decisions: what to wear, what to eat, what brand of cosmetics to buy and what movie to see in the cinema. All these little daily acts define part of our personality. What characterizes us, however, are the great decisions that direct our life in one direction or another. Not deciding is equivalent to leaving your own destiny in the hands of others or of chance.

Any decision comes with a good deal of uncertainty and fear, but it’s better to be wrong than not to decide . Today we invite you to reflect on this and teach you the basic strategies for making effective and safe decisions.

Not deciding alters our balance

More than that ideal happiness according to which we can achieve our every goal, what we aspire to more than anything else is harmony.

It means acting according to our values, gaining the respect of others. Maintain personal relationships based on reciprocity and recognition. Achieve inner peace, without fears, insecurities or anxieties.

Now let’s see what guidelines we should follow to take a step towards that personal courage that will allow us to make a decision.

Learn to discern

Discernment is a psychological ability that each of us possesses and that we should learn to put into practice.

Sometimes we get carried away by routine, falling into a psychological monotony in which we stop acting. This makes our thoughts more rigid, to the point of feeling any alteration or change as a danger. Going beyond our comfort zone causes us fears and insecurities.

When we find ourselves in this situation, the best thing is to learn to discern. This verb means “to realize something, to discover a truth” and this is exactly what we must do : to discover the unsatisfactory reality in which we live

Before making an adequate decision, it is important to know how to discern and understand where in our life we find ourselves. To do this, we need to ask ourselves some questions that will reveal the reality we need to act upon.

Here are some examples: “Am I in control of my decisions?”, “When I wake up in the morning, do I feel that I am doing what I want?”, “For the future do I want the same things I have now?”, “The people I do they surround care for my happiness? ”.

To decide, you need to know where you want to go

When we are aware of the need for change, we need to know where we want to go and what we want to achieve.

Changing without conviction, without a clear goal, does not make sense. We must be responsible for each of our actions and, for this, we must set goals.

Before making an important decision, the best thing to do is to start making “small decisions” that reflect simple goals that we can achieve day by day. An example would be to set the goal of becoming more assertive and being able to say “no” every now and then and “yes” when we really want to do something.

Small changes bring with them better self-esteem. In this way, we accumulate strength and courage that will pave the way for us when it comes to making more important decisions: looking for another job, moving house, etc.

There is no need to fear mistakes

Don’t be afraid of mistakes rather than a life not lived. It is important to understand some aspects:

Sometimes we look for the culprits of the unhappiness that afflicts us when, in reality, it is we who allow certain situations to complicate our lives, not realizing that we should have ended them a long time ago.

Each of us is responsible for what goes on in our mind. If we interpret a mistake as a failure to regret, we will no longer be able to move forward.

A mistake is an opportunity to learn; whoever limits himself to standing still without saying anything for the simple fear of making a mistake will build a wall that will prevent his happiness from reaching it.

Hearts of stone don't decide

We need to know how to follow our natural intuition. We all have an internal compass that tells us when something needs to end or when to start over.

Dare to live the lives that your hearts truly desire, rationalize your fears, strengthen your self-esteem, and learn from every obstacle you find in your way. Why not deciding prevents you from living.
